Greg Goyo Casar –Austin City Council Candidate District 4 Fraudulently Endorses Candidate for the Austin Tea Party
In a resent mailer sent out by Greg Goyo Casar, an Austin city council candidate in district 4, Greg Goyo Casar claims one of his challengers is endorsed by the Austin Tea Party. For the record, the Austin Tea Party has not endorsed any of his opponents and in fact gave Greg Goyo Casar a probationary endorsement pending his acceptance. On Monday October 20th prior to the announcement of our endorsement, Greg Goyo Casar rejected it stating in a tweet to us, “the Austin Tea Party is last group on earth from whom I'd seek endorsement. Maybe I'd reconsider if you change your stance on virtually everything.” Now that’s the Greg Goyo Casar we thought we knew but why did he endorse one of his opponents FOR the Austin Tea Party? In other words, Greg Goyo Casar took it upon himself to fraudulently represent the Austin Tea Party and award our endorsement to another candidate.
We have now found out that this is not the first campaign ethics violation Greg Goyo Casar has been called on. Turns out there is at least one other ethics violation pending with the city of Austin. It has also been reported to us that Greg Goyo Casar was contacted by a highly respected, former Travis County Democrat official who accused him of lying about the endorsement and who was then told by, Greg Goyo Casar, that he was not aware of the mailer nor was his campaign behind it, even though it is clearly printed on the mailer that it was from his campaign. It has also been reported to us that the details of the conversation have been forwarded to the Austin American Statesman and that they are currently sitting on it.
Finally, in Greg Goyo Casar’s rejection of “everything” the Austin Tea Party stands for, he has put himself in opposition to helping homeowners keep their homes through lower property taxes, auditing a corrupt city council and the cities finances and making Austin more affordable through common sense fiscal policies. Is this the type of city council member Austinites want, especially when also considering his unethical and fraudulent behavior during this campaign?
