![]() Implement the Maximum Allowable Homestead Exemption Whereas assessed property values on Austin homes are skyrocketing; and Whereas Austin is the only major city in Texas that does not make a homestead exemption available to its residents; and Whereas cost of implementing the full homestead exemption can reasonably be absorbed by making strategic cuts within the city’s budget, Therefore, we resolve that the City of Austin should act quickly to bring tax relief to Austin homeowners by implementing the maximum allowable homestead exemption.
